Traditional maori plants

 Silver Ferns

Maori would use silver ferns to mark their land by maori maraes all across aotearoa. They were also used to allow people to memories where there marea was at.They were most effective in the night because that would glow when the moon would shine on them creating a path for people to safely walk home.

In recent days the new zealand netball team named themselves the silver ferns returning the favor for what they did many many many years prior.

Fun fact silver ferns can actually grow up to ten meters or 33 feet . Also the fern can take a rare creeping form which isn't even half the size of a normal fern only growing up to 4 meters tall or 13 feet.

Silver ferns were discovered in 1880 and are known as the symbols of New Zealand by many all over the world.the fern is symbolised as many new zealand citizens homeland .
